Could someone explain/inform about HP loss at altitude? I live at 3600 ft and regularly drive above 7000 ft. Prevously there was something mentioned about a 10% loss per 1000 ft of altitude. Any info is apprecaited. Thanks-Air density decays exponentialy with altitude and is roughly zero at 10km. To get rough estimate assume linear decay. This yields 10%/1km or 3%/1000ft. Since engine power is proportional to air density you might assume 3%/1000ft loss. Again, these are rough estimates and I am sure there will be a wise ass to argue about percentage of a percent.;-)
