I have to say though, the end result is amazing. With the windows up it's almost vault like silence. Due to the rain in Baltimore, I can't give an opinion on how they are with direct sunlight.
For those who don't know what the Double-Glazing option is, They are double-pane safety glass with an inert gas between the two layers. They are a European option, an touted for their Insulative and sound deadening properties.
The fronts only require 3 parts per side. The Window, the Rubber track and the interior window molding strip. Total cost for the fronts was about $400.00. No special tools are required so installation only requires your basic hand tools (and your Brian.....)
The major difference is the thickness of the windows. Below is the stock window with a 5/16" wrench. The stock windows are about 5mm thick.
Below is the Double-Glazing window again with the /16" wrench. They are 9m thick.
The weight difference between the two windows is about 2.5 lbs. so there is very little weight gain in the big picture of things.
