I also have a sand interior in my 540i, so I thought I would post some pics comparing the US and Euro dash, since some of you wanted to see before shots.

All top pictures are the US dash. Ones directly below are Dave Z's Euro dash.


Notice the difference where the dash meets the center console at the head unit:


The US dash comes slighter lower (Yeah, yeah...mine's missing a pedal. Don't worry, the next one won't.):
