GSM is definitely the best in cellular standards, but the coverage is not the best in the US. It reaches about 2/3rds of the population in 47 states, focusing on large population centers with huge areas of no coverage. Good, but not good enough in my opinion.

This is similar to the weak coverage you get with wireless devices, like Palm VII's and Ricochet modems (although different technology). Like wireless, if you use your phone primarily for local use, GSM might be a good solution.

PCS has many features that you're looking for in GSM. That was my alternative, although I'm sticking with my current TDMA phone.
