I've owned both a 97 and now a 99 540 6 speed and my experience is that from one standpoint-the car being 'tight' there has been a deterioration. I know it's not scientific but my 99 has about 5 different annoying noises and rattles while my 97 never had more than one. Maybe it's just this car..let's hope the dealer can get this stuff fixed!!
