If mine didn't have the lumbar support, I would probably find it uncomfortable as well, especially on long journeys. Now what the E39 really needs is the Contour Sport seats as available in the E38. Heck, why not go all the way and have an Active Comfort Contour Sport seat. That would be the day. The lumbar and upper backrest adjustment are definitely more important than a power headrest. The thigh support is also needed, since the non-sport seats have that short lower cushion.
