Bimmer comes with some sort of electronic key. Don't know much about it, but the effect is only pros who will ramp the car can take it. Pros will chop it, or find the transmitter before you know the car is gone. The transmitter cannot be located in concrete buildings, a fact of which the pros are aware.

No real alternatives, so make sure you have good insurance.
