The leather gaiter around the gear lever on my 528i frets against whatever's underneath it, when I'm in 4th or 2nd gear position.

Does anyone know how to take the gaiter off so that I can rectify the problem ?

of the edges to reposition it after it all come off,Its possible it is not the boot , but the shifter below/.
