A lot of things can cause belt chirping. A lose belt would be the first place to look. On my 540iA the belt chirping was traced to the water pump leaking water onto the belt at idle. On my 325is the belt chirping was traced to a worn alternator bearing that resulted in the belts not being tight enough when the car was running. Also, do not forget to check for worn belt tensioners.

Hope this helps.
