First of all, DO NOT SKIMP ON THESE!!!! I cannot underestimate the importance of your safety! The e39 is a big heavy car and cheap wheels are not designed to take the kin of loads that the car developes on a race track! I have SEEN wheels break at the spokes and send cars into walls! This is not a scare tactic here to get you to spend money, but a reality! I did over 70 track days last year, I have seen just about everything!

Additionally, you really want a light wheel - you will feel the difference on teh track! Believe me, a few more $$ spent on this will yeild tangible returns!

My recommendation is to get one of these: (in order of preference)(prices are all TireRack's)

1. BBS RK - $288 each 17x8.5. This wheel is proven on numerous BMW race cars and will be light and strong!

2. BBS RC - 359 each 17x8.5. Same as above, just more $$.

3. BBS RK - $275 each 17x8. Good, but heavier than above. Good choice though!

For tires, I would get Kumho ECSTA's - very nice on our cars at the track! Ask arnolds! ;^)
