From what I understand, MBs (at least the S class) has a system that activates when starting from a full stop it will cock down the lamps a few degrees to compensate for the car's nose rising as a result of the initial thrust off the line so as to prevent blinding the oncoming traffic. I don't know if this functions further as a self-leveling while the car's traveling. I know, this has nothing to do with answering your question, but thought it was kinda interesting...sorry. :P
