Dont drop me a challange and drop out :)

Scott

You see Scott D., you judge people by yourself which a wrong way to go. I do not give a rats ass whose car blows whose doors off. This is E39 Family's department. The only reason I did pay for DanB's dyno is to get SAE corrected hp numbers and compare them to my own calculations.

I have estimated that 6 psi boost on 4.4 V8 should yield 403hp and 8 psi boost should yield 413hp, given that adiabatic efficiency of SC is 70%. Well, there is a SAE corrected dynopull of M62 engine running 6 psi boost using Powerdyne SC. It puts down 350hp. Using a simple but very accurate estimate for rwd cars in 300-500 hp range I arrived to 407 bhp. The rule is that in order to estimate bhp one has to assume 12% loss and then add 10hp. Well, 407 is as good as 403 for Goverment work.

So, Dinan does underestimate hp numbers but by about 10hp, not 50hp. My curiocity has been satisfied and I am not interested in doing dyno pulls anymore. Plus I'll get many hours on dyno tomorrow at AutoT.
