The minimum is once a year or every 15,000 miles--whichever occurs FIRST.

I will change mine every 7,500 miles (I have 3800 now) and do it myself.

Castrol Syntec (PURE sythetic, not the blend) is what BMW recommends. I will use 40 weight.
