In Reply to: OT - Anyone had LASIK? posted by RobertB on April 29, 2001 at 23:32:22:

I've done a ton of checking on my doctor, and I'm going ahead:

1 - His laser sits in one room - it is not in a mobile office

2 - He is using the newer (newest?) Visx Star S3 with active tracking (corrects for eye movement)

3 - He has performed over 4,000 procedures with over 98% getting 20/40 or better vision without correction. All of his LASIK patients have been correctable to 20/20.

4 - He is board certified

5 - He has no complaints filed against him with the local medical society (or anywhere else I can find)

6 - He is my "normal" eye-care physician. I have been a patient of his for three years. I see him for all pre- and post-op care

7 - He did not pressure me into surgery, he PATIENTLY answered all my questions, and didn't say a single word when I chickened out last year (I had just taken a new job)
