Here's the TSB. It seems to address your problem.

SUBJECT:
Improved Lower Window Stop

MODEL:
E38, E39

Situation:
The lower door window stop used in the E38 and E39 prior to 2/98 production has a tendency to stick to the glass carrier and pull out of its holder. This causes a clunking noise when the window is lowered, or a rattle when driven over rough surfaces with the window down.

The design of the stop was improved with 2/98 production to minimize this problem. The new design stop is now available under part number 51 33 8 257 714

Procedure:
In case of a customer complaint, remove the door panel and peel up the plastic vapor barrier to get access to the bottom of the window regulator.

-- Wrap a piece of fine wire (e.g. parts tag wire) (2) around the tail of the new stop (1).

-- Apply Loctite Black Max(&#reg;) to the sides of the recessed portion of the stop (3).

-- Wipe the contact surface of the holder to provide a clean surface for the adhesive.

-- Snake the wire through the hole in the holder and pull the new stop into place. Snip off the excess wire. Apply petroleum jelly to the underside of the window carrier so that it cannot stick to the new stop.

I have the illustrations too, if you'd like.
