If memory serves me, you created a website to document this project, and you built that subwoofer box out of your garage using CAD. I believe you sent me a DXF file of your subwoofer design. I opened up the DXF file on Autocad and looked at how you designed the box. The only problem I had with the CAD was that for some reason, I wasn't able to dimension the lines or I wasn't able to break out each line/plane into layers. In any case, as much as I wanted to knock off your design, I ended up throwing 2x12" subs into a prefab sealed box. Not as elegant, but served my needs at the time.
I used a free CAD program and the DXF format was an export option. So, I'm not suprised that the file was not particularly detailed.
In any case, your project stands up there among the top 10 stereo projects that I can remember. Planning anything else to top it ?
Thanks... I'm still seriously interested in figuring out how the I-Bus works and grabbing the video signal for a little mobile info/email! It would be rather funny to be able to get the E39 board to show up on the Nav :-) ha ha ha
Any serious geeks out there with more info on I-Bus? Tom in Germany has a bunch of info on the Nav guts, but still no info in I-Bus. Does anyone know the pinout of the purple 18-pin connector going to the Nav computer? It's the harness which probably contains the link to the car's OBD (in order to get MPG, trip info, and that kind of stuff). The blue connector is the nav audio/video out. Audio goes to the tuner, video goes to the monitor up front. For those with TV, audio/video gets daisy chained through the TV unit.
Tom indicates that IBus is Arcnet, but that's all I know for now. At the application layer, the IBus probably carries the user commands from up front. I.e., volume up/dn, prev/next track, mouse, menu, etc. I can't quite figure out what the physical layer chips are. It's just a matter of hooking up the oscilloscope. Anyone with info, please share!
