Perhaps I should have started out with the question of whether or not the stock 2001 540iA can actually beat the GS400 at the light. I try not to trust the numbers I see on paper, and would really like to hear anyone's first-hand knowledge of this exact duel.

Also, how bad is powerbraking for the car? I tend to wait just before the light is about to hit, and then powerbrake to almost 2K RPM for around 1 second just before launch. It just doesn't feel like the nicest thing I could be doing to my brakes / axle ;)

Thanks for any comments on all this! As you can tell, I really am just interested in every aspect of the GS400 vs 540iA redlight race.
