Glad to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem.

I have no idea what the problem is. I have not been screwing around with the car's wiring.

What year is your car, and do you have the nav system? The only thing that I can think of is that maybe I need to update my navigation system software. Again, I have a MY99, produced 3/99 with pre-wiring for the analog phone.

If you leave the phone in the cradle, then turn the engine off and leave the car, does the phone turn off? Mine does not, although the manual says that it will to preserve the car's battery...

Thanks,
Brad D

Yup, I asked this very same question yesterday.
It's also aggravating, since the call can't be terminated once it commences. The only workaround I've found so far is to unplug the phone when I first start the car, and once the "BMW ASSIST UNAVAILABLE" (or something like that) shows up on the dash, I then plug in the phone.

I thought it was because I'm still screwing around with my stereo equipment (and causing the I-Bus to reinitialize). But, I take it that your car is not undergoing such reconfiguration.

Please post a solution if you figure out what the problem is, and I'll do the same.
