When my wife and I were in Munich taking delivery of our 530i, we also had signed up for BMW's Fahrer-Training. It was great! The focus was on low-speed, rather than high-speed handling and we drove 330i's with 5-speed manuals. There was a lot of skid-pad work, and demonstrations of how the DSC and anti-lock brake systems work. Each car had a switch where these safety features could be switched off an then run through the course. The differences between maximum stopping distances and ability to swerve during maximum braking on a wet skidpad with and without ABS braking were stunning. There was a skid-pad with built-in sprinklers to wet-down the pavement, and they had numerous courses set up with cones. One slalom course had timing gates so you could monitor your times and check on improvement. There were three instructors, all of whom spoke English. One was an engineer in the suspension testing department. Class size was around 20-25. My wife and I were the only English speaking people in the group so the instructors rotated as translators for us throughout the day. One of the instructors was part of BMW's testing center out of LA, so he was pretty good at English.
We took the "Advanced Training". It was a full day long and included breakfast buffet and an evening buffet (also lunch, I think.)
It was held at the Movenpick Motel near the airport. We stayed there for two nights and really liked it. Very quiet, inexpensive (about $80/night) and with nice rooms. It also has a huge parking lot with long-term parking for travellers.
So, if you are doing European Delivery, look at the www.bmw.com page under drivers training and see if your schedule can fit one of their training dates.
