On the passenger side valve cover of my '97 540, underneath the oil fill spout, the silver engine paint has been progressively bubbling up with time, so that now it looks unsightly and is in need of some sort of touch-up. The fact that it’s under the oil fill is suspicious, suggesting that some oily residue may have contributed to its demise, although it’s always dry and clean. I was showing my car today at a "show & shine" and it was like having a big zit on the end of my nose for the big prom.
Has anybody else had this and what did you do about it before I get out the old sanding block and repaint it myself? Does BMW sell engine paint that matches?
