You mentioned getting rid of the 2000 Mustang convertible as well. Are you going down to 1 car or replacing both?

If you're replacing both-- it seems logical to me to trade the Mustang for something like the Subaru wagon you mentioned. Then instead of replacing the BMW with something new, with a shorter warranty and probably less safety (BMW's are about as safe as it gets, up there with Volvo), the insurance savings from getting rid of the Mustang would cover a payment difference.
