I have a 2001 530i with stick, 3800 miles. Power steering has almost no boost at low end, making it difficult to park, do k-turns, even at 5-10 mph. Is anyone having this kind of problem with their new 530 or 540. Makes car feel like a small truck. Svce mgr. said some owners of new 3's were also complaining about low speed power steering boost.

I have asked that the BMW field rep drive the car on his next visit. My salesperson also wants to drive it.

Something strange going on here.

The guy who is supposed to know how to diagnose and fix this (Service Manager) simply says that it is also occuring in some 3 series. ???

Sooooo - what was the next step?
Did he have it tested?
There is a method to apply measured specific pressures to the steering wheel to see if it is performing with-in speck limits or not.

No need to have the BMW rep, or the salesman test it.
Like BMW is going to say - Oh we only fix it if the "salesman" thinks there is problem.

?????

Cheers
