I used the power from the factory wire that goes to the UGDO. This wire is factory fused with AT LEAST a 5A fuse, and the UGDO can't possibly use more than 1A. The radar detector uses about 1A and the CHiPs detector, less than 1A.

The wires to the UGDO are: Brown is the ground, and Green is the +12v that gets power when the ignitiion key is turned. (so called, B+) I attached the power wires from the passport and the chips detector to these wires.

For the cigarette lighter adaptor of the passport: there are 4 wires, red (+), green (-), and two others for the mute function and LEDs. The red (+) and green (-) are attached to the UGDO power wires. Then I peeled the sticker off the cig lighter adaptor and stuck it to the blank microphone panel, and I drilled a hole for the mute button to protrude through. The LEDS are behind the microphone panel (that's why you see the black line through the green LED in my photo -- the LEDs are behind the grill of the panel). Not too difficult -- total time for the two detectors and the UGDO was about 90 minutes.

power wire? Also- please give directions for the mute button install from the cigarette cord.It looks great!
