I did quite a few runs with my G-Tech and ran from 5.45 best to 5.65 worst. My son took his Legend to the track and compared the times with the G-Tech and it read .1-.2 sec. consistantly low. So therefore my actual times are probably 5.55 -5.75.

2000 540i 6sp
short shifter/CDV removed but otherwise stock


I recently purchased a 2001 540 6 speed and was wondering what's the realistic best 0-60 time for the car with no mods. The BMW site has conflicting info, one area says 5.8 seconds and another says 6.0 seconds. I am also sure that the BMW marketing department had their say in what times to list so that the M5 would seem that much more appealing.

I don't have a track at my disposal, and have only had the car a few weeks. I haven't had a car with a clutch in over 8 years and the cars I did have with clutches were 4 banger beaters, so it's going to take me some time to learn how to handle this extra power.

I figure I will get used to the stock model first before I consider doing any mods. I would appreciate any comments.
