taking apart rear passenger side door? (archive)

the rear passenger window in my dad's 97 528i has stopped working. We both think that it's the regulator, we can hear the motor turning but nothing happens. What is the correct procedure on how to completely remove the door panel to gain access to the regulator? Is this even DIY project? Also, what is the life expectancy of these cars if the oil is changed every time it gets down to 2 green bars?
