Just bought an Aspen Silver 528i with 5 speed, premium package, sunroof, DSP and CD changer. $24,950 with 51,000 miles and pretty close to perfect for the mielage. Traded my 2001 3.2 Acura TL in for the fiver.
Anyhow, I bought an extended warranty on the car (3/36,000 with $50 deductible for $3,000) and have a few service questions:
1) Clutch engages pretty close to the end of its travel, leading me to believe it's nearly cooked. Can it be adjusted to engage sooner (closer to the floor), and also how much for a typical clutch job?
2) I see from the service manual included in the owners' kit that there are essentially only two groups of service: Inspection 1 and Inspection 2. What's a typical price to pay at a dealer for these two jobs?
3) I am accustomed to changing my own oil, but my research shows that doing it on a fiver is a little more involved. What does a dealer generally charge?
4) There is an annoying bad bearing-sounding noise from the front at idle when the AC compressor is engaged. This ends when AC is turned off or engine RPM is raised above 1500 RPM or so. Thoughts? Bad compressor clutch bearings, maybe? How much?
5) The front suspension occasionally makes a clunk when hitting bumps at low speed. Thoughts? Bad bushing(s) in front?
Thanks a 1,000,000 in advance for your consideration and replies; feel free to post a reply or simply email me at jason_flynn@yahoo.com
