The main problem areas on these cars are:
Cooling system (radiator endtanks)
Catalytic convertors
Eletrical bits (I have heard of a couple failed camshaft sensors)
Sunroofs (drive mechanism)
Door seals (noisy originals)
On manual cars, keep the clutch in mind

I know I am leaving some stuff out, but those are the major items off the top of my head.
Also, an extended warranty of sorts is strongly recommended, but with proper maintenance, these cars will be largely trouble free for many, many, miles.
