1. It is already setup to run with the big dogs. No issues with 130MPH speed limiters and H rated tires found in the US. The instrument cluster will be in KM/h versus subtitles like the US. The speedometer might even be accurate versus inflated like the US. If euro gets servotronic steering, you definitely want it if you plan to be running at high speed. The US 5 series after 9/97 no longer gets servotronic though all M5's do. Servotronic dials in steering assist based on speed instead of engine RPM. When you are rolling >100MPH, you'll get superb road feel. The US system is kind of stupid because every time you shift up or down, the road feel changes because of the change in RPM.
2. You can buy based on euro invoice which is significantly lower than US invoice
3. Euro spec has standard features built in that you might want like a first aid kit, hazard triangle, rear fog lights, wide angle & auto dimming side view mirrors, clears, and comfort close windows. You'll also get the famous "euro armrest" and "euro dash" yielding more leg room, better ergonomics, and more storage.
4. You can choose from tons of neat features not available to the US like the latent heat reservoir that blows hot air without having to wait for the engine to warm up.
5. If you want to really outdo yourself, you can take advantage of the BMW Individual program. You can have things like maple wood, buffalo leather, and throw in a DVD movie player.
Golden opportunity for you; not many in the US will ever be able to have such things.
