I ordered last April (don't ask!), so I was hoping to get one of the first to hit the US. I was pretty disappointed a few weeks ago when my sales rep told me the car was scheduled for production in week 39, the last week of September.
However, this past Thursday I got an envelope in the mail with my dealer's logo that said "BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT!"
The announcement showed a cartoon picture of a stork carrying a BMW roundel and the words, "Your bundle of joy is on the way!"
Inside the announcement had a picture of a 5 series and the words, "Your BMW was built August 29th and is now awaiting transport."
I immediately called the sales rep, and he confirmed that the car had been built in week 36, last week, instead of week 39. But when I checked the BMWNA Owner's Circle for the car's status, it still told me the car was "Scheduled for Production" until today when it changed to "Awaiting Transport."
I think this confirms what others on this board have said, that the Owners' Circle is slow to report the order status. The dealer has the up-to-date info on your car.
