I think radiators should be maintenance items (archive)

As for older cars having this problem, the design hasn't changed, so new car folks are likely to see radiator failure when they hit the mileage. You've gone quite a long ways on yours.

I'm assuming $800 is the radiator installed, out the door. You can buy them for about $350.
