tires can have a signficant role in steering effort, believe it or not. Try michelins.

Also, alignment, if it's off, can produce the same problems..have it checked. And when I say have it checked, get it done at the dealer or at a REALLY good tire shop...don't trust some grease monkey at the nearest el-cheapo "tires for less" place to tell you if it's OK or not.
