Never heard of that. I guess if you'd like the inside of your car to smell like lysol you could do that. The filters have a charcoal layer within them and I don't have any problem with odor(Unlees I've eaten something bad). Besides, that mildewy smell could be coming from the ventwork itself and therefore the Lysol on the filter media would just be masking the problem. I'd be concerned about continuous Lysol applications affecting the flow of the filters..
