I am neither an expert on BMW or F1, but at the F1 race in INDY I spoke briefly with someone with BMW about the 2002 530i and he mentioned the change regarding shift pattern. He said that the new Steptronic shift pattern more mimics the shift pattern on F1 cars. I thought F1 cars had paddles for shifting so I am not sure of comparision, but this is what I was told. Again I am an expert on neither.
