There is an odd hollow-metal clicking sound coming from somewhere in the steering column or ignition key area. Been to the dealer twice; they claim they can't hear it. It's drive me nuts. And it's worse when it's cool outside; in hot sun or warm weather it goes away. Sometimes it doesn't even require a bump in the road to hear it. Anyone have advice or similar experience/solution? Thanks very much in advance.

Sounds can often seem to be coming from one place when actually from another.

Try this.

Lift the hood and put some lubricant on those small pins that stick up at the hinges (small bolts with plastic tops that contact the underside of the hinge plate when closed).

If those get dry they creak when there is slight movement of the hood (as when you hit the brakes) and cause a "click' sound that seems to come from in front of you.

Cheers
Jim Cash
