Some comments here....
The S models are upgraded in many more ways than the "standard" models. Brakes, suspension, some body, depends but engine is usually tweaked a bit more. I like the C2S, the all wheel drive is heavy but the drivetrain loss is only about a total of 22-25%. Incredible for an all wheel drive sports car. You could tweak the engine a bit (on either model) with simple bolt-ons. These cars respond well to tweaks and take you to a more distinguished level of ownership. ;-}
Chips, cams, intake, superchargers, turbos, exhaust are all readily available. Keep in mind, these mods are NOT inexpensive BUT well worth the money when done right. The sound of these engines modified are enough to get a 12 year old virgin hot and bothered. (sorry, hehehe)

I was over at AutoT picking up a new chip and they had a '01 996 TT with ECU upgrade, high-flow cats and a race exhaust. Put down 427hp to the wheels and the ECU still needs tweaking. The sound of it was just pure evil, the nastiest sound I've heard for a street car. The sound that will make you steril if you are too close to it at 18psi of boost. WOW

Cab vs. hardtop....rollbar!

Tail happy is not happening in the C4(S) but it is fun to swing the ass end out in a C2. The C2 is civilized it just depends on the driver. I like the C2 personally, less issues down the road to worry about and the engine feels more responsive over the C4.

This is a great board... rennlist.org

Not all your questions answered but the only way to really get a defenite answer is to.......drive them ALL! :-}}}}}}}}

Just beware of the permanent smile you will have!

BTW-No Porsche should remain stock.

I hope this helps, good luck and have fun!
