What kind of condition was the metal tubing in that runs from the back of the water pump to the rear of the engine. I know that there is an "O" ring to supposedly seal it, but if there was a lot of pitting from corrosion on the tube it may not be sealing. You may have to use a thin coat of silicon sealant on the tube before you insert in into the water pump after you sand and clean the tube first. Also lining that tube up can be a real bear or the tube may be rotted out.
