as white smoke is definitely a symptom of coolant being burned.
The dealer is wrong about the engine block. All 1995 V8s came with the Galnikal (nikasil) block. It wasn't until '97 that the replacement Alusil block appeared.
: I had a service done on my 740iL 95 77k miles and got charged for something I believe is the responsibility of BMW (I believe it is related to the engine block problem). The dealer plays "dum". I paid the $1500 charge, and sent a letter to BMW customer service, but no answer after three weeks. Any other place to vent my dissatisfaction?
