: I purchased a certified pre-owned 1994 740IL 18 months ago and have been trying to correct a vibration which occurs usually at 55 mph on up. (it is at it's worst at 63mph.)

Alex,

I have to agree with a few other posters - since you've done the balancing thing, and done the alignment thing, it's VERY likely to be your driveshaft ( U joints or Center berring ). Very common problem in the 7s. Driveshafts seem to last around 60 - 100K miles ( depending I guess on road conditions etc ). I would also have them do the transmission mounts at the same time.

I would guess that since it's under warranty they don't want to shotun a new $700 driveshaft ( U joints aren't really replaceable ).

Good luck!

Rolf 91 750iL 111K ( my driveshaft lasted 110K miles ).
