Got one with 70,000 miles a few months ago, very happy with it. Newer ones have a better motor (larger displacement and no risk of Nikasil problem) but the short wheelbase version was not made in 96. That means you'd have to move up to 97 with attendant higher prices unless you want the iL model. (I prefer the short wheelbase i)
My extended warranty runs for another 2 years and 30,000 miles, so I'm not going to worry about the engine. I run the thing hard and just have a great time with it.
If you check out my "informal survey" post below, you'll see that many 95s completely escape the engine problem. If you are in California, the sulfur level of gasoline is very low, also reducing the risk of this problem.
