I'd planned on having my car windows tinted today but read in the manualthat this is discouraged because the windows are already coated with a plastic film on the inside surface (to prevent shattering on impact) -

Should I heed this warning or go ahead with my plan? (if it's such a problem, why are there so many late mode BMW's out there with tinted widows)

Thanks for any advice...

I have a '95 740il that I got tinted nmore that two years ago. There are so many myths out there about tinting, and most of them are utterly rediculous. I'm a former pro tinter and have never seen any major problems. Most minor problems are due to errors, such as using high-ammonia based cleaners, by the owners themselves. Don't worry, tint has come a very long way since 10 -15 years ago.
