I previously posted this message but didnt get an answer. Has anyone had their check engine light come on after hard acceleration and afterwards had rough performance to include rough idle. The check engine light continues to stay on. Is the computer getting a bad signal from somewhere and what can be done without knowing the fault codes
I had the same problem last year on my 95 740il, and after several trips to the dealer, it was determined that my computer needed to be replaced. It had to come direct from germany, as the computer had to be programmed with all the previous and current fixes. It took about 2 weeks to get it and it would have cost me $1500 if I didnt still have warranty coverage. But thats not all, I was still having the light come on, which ended up being the o2 sensors. But you should have the computer looked at first because if it is faulty, it will send all kinds of false error codes during diagnostics. good luck!!!
