I had a '97 740 iL. The folder at BMW secvice was 3" thick. I sold it & got 2 KIA Sportages (No Joke!) this weekend. They had no problem fixing things, but I have better things to do than spend ALL my free time sitting in the waiting room (they NEVER offered me a loaner) & the $50 a pop warranty fee started getting old real fast. This past friday, they got upset with me when I came in to have the windshield replaced (a truck tire threw a rock) I had scheduled a service to have it replaced this friday, ordered the windshield & paid up front. & They were mad at me because I showed up but the wind shield did'nt. I should of called THEM to see if the parts were in according to them. That was the last straw. All I can say is beware of what you want, I obvoiusly was not one of the fortunate people to get a trouble free car. It was a tremendous amount of money to get it, and the time & additional money required to keep it usable was too much for me. It is a very complex machine, and the more mechanical parts there are, the more likely something is to go wrong. I should of kept my Mistubishi Diamante, I Owned it and it ran perfectly. Now I'm F*&$% for the next 4 years with more payments. They are excellent machines, and BMW was keeping up the car per the warranty, it is just that I did not want to continuously feed more money and time into it, thats all. The Service dept. was Okay, just some people are a&*holes, and again, I was not lucky again in that area either. They also did not tell me it was in an accident. I saw that for myself when they had it up on a lift. The read end heat shields & fender underpinnings were mashed up. I hope you have better luck or common sense than I did. I think maybe all of these surveys that say 7 series are in the top 1% or whatever in customer this and that, are just afraid to say they got hosed for some big bucks and want others to suffer as well. (Maybe sour grapes, but I spent enough money to complain for a long time to come) Good luck in your search for a nice car, The 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi looks very nice and is only $33,000 loaded for bear!?
