I have 96 that needed cluster re-placment. Apparently there are two types of clusters. One has a module piggy backed on the cluster and the other does not. My dealer said he could swap the modules but could not set if it's a module that is not piggy backed. Maybe the later type self updates.like plug and play. Any thoughts.
Shabir.
The instrument clusters were different for 96 & 97.
Yes the 96 model had the extra module on the back - but I have no information as to how it operated.
I am familar with the 97 cluster as it operates the same as the one in the 97 540 (at least as far as I can tell it does).
That is the one that self updates - if the conditionsare correct. I do not know about the other 96 version.
Cheers
