BMW used an RF motion sensor early on then switched to ultrasonic. The rf sensor is picking up the change in signal level and interpreting it as a change in the reflection by an intruder. You don't see microwave burglar alarms any more for the same reason- they detect 100% of the local cell phones and microwave ovens and rarely the occasional burglar. I think you can retrofit the ultrasonic jobbie but have no direct experience with this.Rich
Alarm will go off every now and then for no reason. Just happens every now and then.
