The better comparison for the XJR is the M5. The XJR makes about 375 horsepower, significantly more than the 280/290 in the 740i. And, believe it or not, the interior dimensions of the XJR are closer to the 540i than the 740i. The Jag LOOKS like a big car, but it's all hood and trunk.

Now, XJ8 vs 740i is a better comparison. And I don't think an XJ8 can touch a 740i Sport. But, damn, those Jags are beautiful.
