programming garage door opener on 740IL (archive)

I just purchased a 95 740IL with 67000 miles, 5000 miles on new alusil short block (I got lucky, didn't know about the block problem until I discovered this site shortly after purchase). I have 3 buttons in front of sun roof for remote control of garage doors, but the manual does not explain how to program them. It does refer to an added supplement to the manual for programming, but I am missing that section. Does anybody know how to program? I have a garage door opener that randomly changes codes every time it is activated. Thanks
