Every time I ask for a programming change at the dealer they swear all this programming stuff didn't start until 2k. I've got a '97 540 apparently set to hot country and a '98 740 that clearly isn't.

can anyone verify that either of these cars can be programmed so I can get this done? I've got an appt. with the service mgr next friday.

Jim,

The 7-series in question is a MY1997. Your description talked about "Car Memory", and I understand that you are distinguishing this from "Key Memory". My MY99 E39 officially has "Car & Key Memory", but the MY97 E38 officially does not.

Will the MY97 E38 have the "hot country" vs "normal" settings even though it does not have was is currently called "Car & Key Memory"?
