Re: 98 750il Factory Service Manual (archive)

I scanned the archives but am unlcear on the issue of service manuals. I put a deposit on that 98 750 I spoke of tonight (i'm the guy with the new daughter and the ZR1) still not sure how I feel about the whole thing - but... the reason I could afford my LT5 was that I did all my own work and had the factory manual. If I can't get the manual for this car - I know I can't afford the dealer too well - and I also know I can't guess at wpecifications and all trouble shooting. In brief - is the factory service manual available. If not any quality aftermarket versions - All I got out of the archives was that aftermarket ones seemed unavailable for this year?

Central Letter Shop is the official distributor for BMW repair documents. However, BMW is only really interesten in releasing what they must, which would be the emissions related documents for the late model.

E-38 repair information includes:
The Technical Information System(TIS) CD-ROM($112) includes most of the mechanical R&R. It also includes the Service Bulletins and technical specifications. The engine electrical & engine management electrical is included in the Technical Documents CD-ROM($280). Parts catalog is also on a CD-ROM($100). The show stopper is the Mobil Diagnostic Computer(MoDIC) system software CD-ROM sells for $380 and the diagnostic computer sells for $12,000. There is also a Technical Training CD-ROM avaliable for $125.

They are a great car even if the repair document availability is a search effort.
