I have a '97 740iL. I just can't believe that regardless of what the outside temperature is, that the temp needle on the temp guage never will budge over the mid point. I have let this engine idle in Tucson, Arizona at 112 degrees for over 30 minutes and the needle never quivers. My past cars have been six cylinder 7 cars with atrocious radiator and heat problems. I think BMW has electrically locked the temp guage at the mid point.
What are your comments?
Thanks,
Jerry BMW CCA #38154

You guessed it.
The temperature gauge is programmed to says at the mid point from 75-113 degree C.
