This is a great question and point. My 1995 740il goes through scan mode when pushing the up or down button on the wheel. I would rather it go through my presets like most other BMW's I have driven. How do you make this change?

All,

my '97 540 selects my radio presets when I hit the up/down buttons on the wheel.

my '98 seeks up and down, which I think sucks.

I've searched the archive, and i've found instructions, but they don't apply to the non-Nav system. the E39 instructions don't work.

Anyone got any ideas?

It is possible. My '98 740i goes through the preset radio stations from the steering wheel. It only goes through FM program 1 or 2 or AM (whichever was last used) but not both. It came that way.
